Hockey crisis: Maya steps in, offers Rs 5 crore

New Delhi, Jan 13: Help is pouring in for Indian hockey team players as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has now announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 crore to the team, just hours after the official sponsor Sahara India Pariwar stepped in with Rs 1 crore.

This comes amid the ongoing revolt launched by the players protesting against the non payment of dues.

Sahara India stepped in on Wednesday, Jan 13 after the sport's governing body Hockey India failed to resolve the issue and coerce the players into attending the preparatory World Cup camp in Pune.
