A pivotal aspect of the HIL 2024-25 is the player auction slated for mid-October in New Delhi, where franchises will assemble their squads. Each team is expected to have a mix of at least 16 Indian players, including four junior players, and eight international stars, ensuring a blend of local and global talent.
The league's schedule has been set, with the inaugural match kicking off on 28th December in Rourkela, and the competition spanning across two venues - the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi and the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
The women's and men's finals are slated for 26th January 2025 and 1st February 2025, respectively, promising a thrilling end to the tournament. The introduction of shootouts for tied games ensures a decisive outcome for each match, adding to the excitement.
Franchise owners have openly expressed their enthusiasm for being part of this historic edition of the HIL, underlining the league's importance as a milestone for Indian hockey.
