Hockey India Squad: India Reveals 40 Member Core Group For Junior National Coaching Camp

Hockey India has unveiled a 40-player core probable group for the Junior Men's National Coaching Camp, commencing on January 29, 2024, at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) facility in Bengaluru.

The selection of this group was based on outstanding performances during the 2023 domestic championships. Under Coach Janardhana CB's guidance, the core probable group will convene for a 20-day training camp from January 29 to February 17.

The chosen players feature five goalkeepers, including Prince Deep Singh (Hockey Punjab), Bikramjit Singh (Hockey Chandigarh), Adarsh G (Kerala Hockey), and Ashwani Yadav and Ali Khan (Uttar Pradesh Hockey). Noteworthy forwards in the list include Mohit Karma, Mohd. Zaid Khan, and Mohd. Konain Dad (Hockey Madhya Pradesh), Sourabh Anand Kushwaha (Uttar Pradesh), and Araijeet Singh Hundal, Gurjot Singh, Prabhdeep Singh, Dilraj Singh, Arshdeep Singh, and Gursewak Singh (Hockey Punjab).

The defensive lineup comprises 12 players such as Sharda Nand Tiwari, Amir Ali, and Manoj Yadav (Uttar Pradesh Hockey), Sukhvinder (Hockey Haryana), and Rohit (Hockey Chandigarh). Players like Yogember Rawat (National Centre of Excellence, Delhi), Anmol Ekka, Prashant Barla, and Akash Sorong (Hockey Association of Odisha), Sundaram Rajawat (Hockey Madhya Pradesh), Anand Y (Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu), and Talem Priyo Barta (Manipur Hockey) complete the defensive contingent.

Thirteen midfielders round out the selection, including Bipin Billavara Ravi and Vachan H A (Hockey Karnataka), Ankit Pal (Hockey Madhya Pradesh), and Rosan Kujur, Mukesh Toppo, and Ritik Kujur (Hockey Association of Odisha). The midfield also features Thounaojam Ingalemba Luwang and Thokchom Kingson Singh (Manipur Hockey), Ankush (Hockey Chandigarh), Jeetpal (Hockey Haryana), Chandan Yadav (Uttar Pradesh Hockey), Manmeet Singh (Hockey Punjab), and Govind Nag (Hockey Maharashtra).

Coach Janardhana CB expressed confidence in the selected players, emphasizing the rigorous selection process based on their domestic championship performances. As the camp approaches, the focus will be on refining skills, building tactical awareness, and fostering a winning mentality among the young athletes.
