Hockey: Indian women win Asian Champions Trophy beating China

Indian women's hockey team lifted the Asian Champions Trophy beating China 2-1.

Singapore, Nov 5: India beat China 2-1 with a last-gasp goal in the final to emerge winners for the first time in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Singapore on Saturday, November 5.

Deepika Grace Ekka's brace in either of the halves helped India to register a win over China and lift the Asian Champions Trophy.

Deepika scored in the dying moments of the first half just 20 seconds away from the hooter to give India the much-needed lead.

She netted from a brilliant shot after finding a rebound from a penalty corner.

India looked determined to hold on to their lead from first half and tried their hearts out. Unfortunately, the Chinese women came back strongly and scored an equaliser.

China's Zhong Mengling equalised in the third quarter, 44th minute.

Just when it seemed that the match would go to penalties, Deepika once again came to India's rescue and scored a brilliant goal in the dying moments of the match.
