India's blistering pace overwhelmed Wales from the first whistle. In the seventh minute, Salima Tete's sharp run down the right set up Sakshi Rana for a thunderous reverse hit from the circle's edge, putting the hosts 1-0 up amid relentless breakaways against Wales' high press.

Indian custodian Bichu Devi shone at the 25th minute, thwarting Wales' first penalty corner. Navneet then struck gold in the 29th from another set piece, rifling a low drag-flick home for 2-0.

Navneet converted to make it 3-0 and complete her brace. Wales pulled one back through Betsan Thomas (39'), slipping the ball in from a tight angle during a rare Indian lapse. Navneet sealed her hat-trick with a cool penalty stroke conversion in the 55th, cementing India's triumph and World Cup qualification dreams.

How have India qualified for FIH Women's World Cup?

The Indian Women's team have qualified for the World Cup even before the semifinals. And it has happened because the other qualification tournament saw a lower-ranked team finishing 4th in that tournament.

Two separate qualifying events - eight teams apiece, making 16 competitors overall, have seven World Cup slots up for grabs. The Santiago leg is done, with Chile, Australia, and Ireland already qualified. Three direct spots remain in Hyderabad, leaving the last one for the top-ranked team that placed fourth in either tournament, determined by the World Rankings snapshot at the stroke of midnight on the final day's end.

Japan, sitting at No. 15 globally, grabbed fourth in Santiago, which ensured India's qualification. India, currently No. 9, would need a massive points plunge from losing their upcoming pair of matches to dip below Japan mathematically, and it just won't happen.
