IHF grants associate membership to CHA

Chandigarh, Sep 10 (UNI) The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) has granted associate membership to the Chandigarh Hockey Academy being run by the Chandigarh Sports Department.

In a communication received by Chandigarh Sports Director-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner Inderjit Singh Sandhu, IHF secretary general K Jothikumaran has informed that the Chandigarh Hockey Academy has been ''admitted as an associate member with immedite effect.'' The IHF secretary general has also directed the CHA to immediately send subscription of Rs 10,000 for the membership for 2007-08.

The Chandigarh Hockey Academy will now directly participate in the 13th Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship to be held at Bhopal from September 27 to October 6 and other tournaments to be conducted under the IHF patronage.

The Sub-Junior Nationals will be organised by the Directorate of Sports and Welfare Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Players born on after January 1, 1992 are eligible to take part in the Sub-Junior Nationals.

Meanwhile, Joint Director Sports Dr JPS Sidhu has issued directions the CHFA officials concerned to make proper arrangements, including travel, for the CH Academy's participation in the Bhopal meet.

The CHA has also received railway concecession forms from the IHF.
