New Delhi, August 24: Indian women's hockey captain Savita is thrilled to play hosts to the upcoming Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023, which is set to be held in Ranchi, Jarkhand from October 27 to November 5.
The tournament, which India won in 2016, will be hosted for the first time on Indian soil after the previous six editions were held in Korea, Singapore, Japan and China. Korea hosted the event three times, while the rest played hosts once.

The Indian Women's Hockey Team Captain Savita shared her excitement about the tournament and reveals how big of an honour it is to host such a prestigious event in Ranchi.
"As the captain of the Indian Women's Hockey Team, I am thrilled beyond words to know that the Asian Champions Trophy for women is set to take place in Ranchi," Savita said.
"This announcement is a testament to the progress and recognition that women's hockey has achieved not just in India but across Asia. It fills us with immense pride to represent our nation on such a significant platform."
The seventh edition of the tournament, in which Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, and hosts India are expected to participate, holds a special place for the Indian team as they get to play in front of their home fans.
"Competing in front of our home crowd in Ranchi will undoubtedly be a momentous experience. The energy, support, and enthusiasm of our fans inspire us to perform at our best. We are eager to showcase our skills, determination, and the collective spirit that defines Indian women's hockey," Savita added.

Earlier this month, the country also played hosts to their first-ever men's Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from August 3 to 12. India men's team went on to add a record fourth title in the tournament by beating Malaysia 4-3 in the final. The women's team will also hope a home tournament brings them success.
