17-year-old Girl complains of Sexual Abuse against India Hockey player Varun Kumar, POCSO case Filed

A 21-year-old woman has filed a complaint against India Hockey Player Varun Kumar for alleged sexual abuse.

A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case has been lodged against the Indian Hockey player following the complaint.

According to reports, the woman has filed a complaint against the Indian player for serial sexual abuse under false promises of marriage. The woman was 17 at the time when the incident happened back in 2019.

Varun allegedly promised her marriage and abused her multiple times during that period. The woman said that the player used to have sexual relation with her during his visit to Bengaluru for coaching camps.

The concerned woman met the Indian hockey player through the social media site Instagram. If the case is proven, the player can be in trouble for raping a minor as she was not an adult during the time of the alleged abuse.

The POCSO case has been launched at the Jnanabharti Police Station in Bengaluru and the investigation process is already underway.

A set of Karnataka Police officials are also likely to travel to Jalandhar to question Varun Kumar on the accused offence. "He is on the run and a search is on to trace him," a police official was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Varun Kumar is a 28-year-old Hockey player who has played 142 matches for the Men in Blue in international hockey.
