India hold Oz to draw in 4-nation hockey tournament

By Staff
Perth, Apr 25: A stunning goal in the dying moments by defender V Raghunath enabled India hold formidable Australia to 2-2 draw in the four-nation hockey tournament here.

Australia were heading for a victory before Raghunath came out to be the saviour for India as he made no mistake in converting a penalty corner in the 70th minute yesterday. Earlier, in the 27th minute of the first half, William Xalxo converted a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
But the hosts came right back in to the game with two field goals in as many minutes by Grant Schubert halfway through the second half and changed the whole complexion of the game in Australia's favour.

In the next match, India, who have one point in the tournament, will take on China today while the Aussies will take guard against South Korea.

India will have to overcome the Chinese challenge and beat them to have any chance of making it to April 27 final.
