India Mens Hockey Lose To England In FIH Pro League Shootout After 2-2 Draw
India lost 1-4 in the shootout after a 2-2 draw across four quarters against hosts England in the London leg of the FIH Pro League European tour at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Thursday, June 26, 2026. Dilpreet Singh scored both India goals.
England’s goals in normal time came from David Goodfield in the 29th minute and Nicholas Bandurak in the 56th. Thomas Sorsby, James Albery and captain Zachary Wallace scored in the shootout for the hosts, while Wallace also converted a penalty stroke after another attempt led to one.

India take early lead
India began well and won an early penalty corner, but captain Harmanpreet Singh’s dragflick was saved by goalkeeper James Mazarelo. England also earned a corner in the fifth minute, though Bandurak’s effort was stopped by the Indian defence before Mandeep Singh set up Dilpreet Singh for the opener in the 10th minute.
India nearly doubled the lead in the second quarter when Amandeep Lakra’s dragflick was cleared by Sorsby on the goal line. England equalised in the 29th minute through Goodfield, who struck a strong volley after a deflection dropped to him in the circle. The third quarter stayed 1-1.
Late goals force shootout
In the fourth quarter, Suraj Karkera made a strong save from Bandurak at the far post. England kept more of the ball and scored again with four minutes left when Bandurak hit a low dragflick from a late penalty corner. India levelled in the 58th minute through Dilpreet’s second goal, set up by Sumit.
England won the shootout 4-1 to take the bonus point. Sorsby and Albery converted the first two attempts, Wallace scored from a penalty stroke and then from the fourth attempt. Harmanpreet Singh was India’s only scorer in the shootout. India next face Pakistan on 26 June at 10:30 PM IST.
