New Delhi, July 3 : The third-place finish at the Champions Challenge hockey tournament in Belgium on Sunday ensured India stay at the eighth place in the latest men's hockey rankings issued by FIH.
India lost to Argentina (1-2) and New Zealand (0-2), the eventual winners and runners-up respectively, in the round-robin league to miss a berth for the final but defeated England 4-3 in the bronze medal play-off.
Germany, Australia, Spain, Netherlands and Pakistan are unchanged from first to fifth places while Argentina and New Zealand rose one place each to sixth and ninth respectively.
South Korea retained seventh spot while England dropped down from ninth to tenth position despite fourth place finish in Belgium.
Japan moved up one place to 11th while Belgium and South Africa remained at 12th and 13th, according to information received here today.
