India to host men's hockey world cup in 2018

Mumbai, Nov 8: India will organise the men's hockey World Cup in 2018, the International Hockey Federation announced late on Thursday night.

The decision was taken by the top body's executive board in Lausanne in Switzerland. New Delhi is likely to host the tournament from December 1-16. The women's tournament will be held in England from July 7-21 that year.

Sixteen teams will participate in both the men's and women's events. India had hosted the World Cup in 2010 while the next year's edition will be held in the Netherlands.
