The Harmanpreet Singh-led side has hit the purple patch in FIH Pro League with three big wins in the last five days. This included big two victories over world champion Germany and also defeated Australia in the first leg.
During the period, the national team scored 14 goals and steamrolled Germany 6-3 two days ago (March 13). Abhishek and Selvam Karthi scored a brace each of field goals while skipper Harmanpreet has successfully converted five penalty corners into goals.
Three of his PC goals came against Australia on March 12 in a close encounter as India edged the three-time World Champion 5-4.
The two victories have propelled India to the top spot in the FIH Pro League table with 17 points. They are tied on points with Spain in the nine-team table and lead by a goal difference.
Australia, however, come into the game with a 2-1 win over Germany on Tuesday (March 14) after losing back-to-back games. They are now sixth in the table with seven points (two wins) in as many games.
The 9-team FIH Pro League 2022-23 season will see all the teams face off against each other in a round-robin format home and away with the team with the most points at the end of the season (June) taking the winners' trophy.
