The decisive moment of the match came in the third quarter when Deepika scored the only goal of the game with a stunning backhand strike. The goal followed a penalty corner, as Deepika’s tomahawk shot into the far corner of the net gave the Women in Blue a much-needed breakthrough. Despite missing a penalty stroke shortly after, Deepika’s contribution proved pivotal in securing India’s victory.

How Did India vs China WACT Final Match Transpire?

The match began with India dominating possession but struggling to create clear chances against a resolute Chinese defence. The first quarter ended goalless, with neither side able to break the deadlock. India’s aggressive approach in the second quarter earned them four penalty corners, but Deepika and the team were unable to capitalise, leaving the scoreline unchanged at halftime.

China, the highest-ranked team in the tournament at World No. 6, also found it challenging to penetrate India’s defence. The hosts, unbeaten throughout the competition, showcased remarkable defensive organisation and intensity, effectively neutralising China’s attempts to counter.

In the third quarter, India’s persistence paid off as they intensified their attacking play. Deepika’s strike lifted the home crowd and boosted the team’s morale. Although a missed penalty stroke could have doubled the lead, India’s defence held firm, preventing China from mounting a comeback.

This victory adds another chapter to India’s dominance in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy, making them only the second team in history to win consecutive titles after Korea. The win also highlights the impact of coach Harendra Singh, under whose guidance the team achieved this milestone.

With their third title, India have further cemented their place as a rising force in women’s hockey. For China, the loss ends their campaign on a disappointing note, but their efforts throughout the tournament showcased their pedigree.

Meanwhile, Japan defeated Malaysia 4-1 in the bronze medal match to secure third place, bringing down the curtain at the Bihar Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 in Rajgir.
