The match is being played at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped, Estadio Nacional - Pitch 1 and a win on the day for India, led by coach Tushar Khandker, could seal their knockout stage spot before facing Belgium in their final group match.
However, the job is tougher said than done as Germany are a former champions and two-time runners-up and have three of the four head-to-head matches against India at the level. The two sides recently met in August during a 2023 4 Nations Junior Women's Invitational Tournament (Düsseldorf) which the Germans won 3-1. India never defeated Germany at the level but played a 4-4 draw back in 2015.
