Indian men's hockey team will take on Japan in the second semi-final of the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2023 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
India and Japan head into the match on the back of victories. India thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan 4-0 to seal the top spot, while Japan edged China 2-1 to book their spot in the semi-final as the fourth-placed team.

Table-toppers India remained unbeaten in the round-robin stage, winning four matches and drawing one. The solitary draw came against their semi-final opponents Japan, who finished fourth, having won one, drawn two and lost two.
In their round-robin meeting, Ken Nagayoshi had given Japan the lead in the closing stages of the second quarter, but India drew level in the closing minutes of the third quarter with Harmanpreet Singh converting a penalty corner. The match ended 1-1.
