India Women’s Hockey Comeback Beats USA 3-2 In Nations Cup Opener
The Indian Women’s Hockey Team fought back from two goals down to beat the United States 3-2 in their opening Pool A match of the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup on Sunday at the North Harbour National Hockey Centre in Auckland. Deepika scored twice and was named Player of the Match.
The USA led early through Ashley Sessa’s field goal in the fourth minute and Madeleine Zimmer’s penalty corner in the seventh. India responded in the second quarter, with Deepika converting penalty corners in the 17th and 24th minutes, before Navneet Kaur put India ahead for the first time in the 28th minute.

India hold on after first-half comeback
The match stayed tight after the break, with both teams earning six penalty corners each. Neither side managed another goal in the final two quarters, but India kept control in defence to finish the game with all three points and a winning start to the campaign.
India moved to second place in Pool A with three points, level with Japan, who are top on goal difference. India will next face Japan in their second Pool A match on June 16 at 6:30 am.
