Indian Hockey at Paris Olympics 2024: The Indian men's team stayed on-course for a second successive medal after they finished second in the pool stage at the Paris Olympic Games to book their quarterfinal berth.

Tokyo 2020 bronze winners themselves, India cemented their spot in Pool B following a historic 3-2 victory over Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Australia in the final group game on Friday (August 2).

The Harmanpreet Singh-led side will now look to upgrade their medal color from Tokyo 2020 and win a second successive medal after they reached the knock out stages of the competition in Paris with three wins, 1 loss and 1 draw.

Indian men's hockey team, which registered a win over Australia at the Olympics for the first time since 1972, had earlier defeated New Zealand and Ireland in the pool round. They also rescued a point via a draw against Argentina before going down to Belgium in their only blemish so far. Here is a look at India's results:

With 10 points from 5 matches, India finished 2nd behind Belgium, who topped the Pool B points table, while Australia and Argentina finished third and fourth to also qualify for the quarterfinals from the group. As a result of finishing second, India will face a weaker team in the last eight.

In total, India scored 10 goals in the group stage, scoring in all their matches. Among the 10 goals scored, three were field goals, while five were from penalty corners and 2 from penalty strokes.
