New Delhi, Jul 13: The Indian hockey team, still looking for that elusive ninth Olympic gold, said they have surprise celebration plans to reveal if they come out with flying colours at the London Games. Vice-captain of the team Sardara Singh said they would flaunt their six-pack abs if they perform well this Olympic!

Sardara, one of the fittest players in international hockey today, said the players were happy with their new-found fitness level and gave all credits to the team physiologist, David John, for effective such a positive change. The mid-fielder from Haryana said, "Earlier, we used to feel shy to show off our body but not now. We have plans to show off our six-pack abs if we do well this Olympic."

The Indian team is currently playing practice matches in Spain in the run-up to the mega event starting later this month.

Sardara, as has been expressed by team coach Michael Nobbs, will be one of the main architects if India do well in London. The man, who was part of the FIH All-Stars team for two consecutive years, however, was not ready to find himself under the pressure of expectation.

"There is no additional pressure on me. Yes, performing well for the country is a challenge always but being a professional, I know how to handle such situations," he said. "The only pressure is to revive the old glory of Indian hockey. We believe that with a little favour of the luck, our players can achieve good results in London. We have the potential," he added.

Sardara Singh, 26, was part of the team that had failed to qualify for the Beijing Olympics four years ago. They lost to Great Britain 0-2 in the final of qualifying tournament in Chile. But for Sardara, it is a thing of the past now.

"The memories of Chile are hard to forget but we have slowly managed to overcome that," he said, adding that the spirits were high in the team this time and slowly it was returning on the right track. The soft-spoken man said India's Olympic preparations would depend on how it performs in the ongoing matches in Spain. "Based on our performance, we will plan our strategies," he said.
