The Indian hockey team received a cash prize of Rs 2.40 from the Government of India on Saturday, August 10 in New Delhi. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, felicitated the Paris Olympics bronze-medallists for their remarkable achievement.
Dr Mandaviya praised the team’s dedication and hard work, stating that their outstanding performance on the global stage has filled the entire nation with pride. Notably, this was the first instance in 52 years for the Indian hockey team to win back-to-back Olympics medals. The Harmanpreet Singh-led team won bronze in Tokyo Olympics 2021 as well.

“The entire nation is proud of your achievement,” Dr Mandaviya stated. “This victory is a testament to your perseverance, teamwork, and indomitable spirit. You have brought immense glory to India and have inspired millions of young athletes to pursue their dreams,” he added.
"Union Minister also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the coaching staff and support team, recognizing their crucial role in the team’s success. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing all necessary support to further develop hockey in India and nurture the country’s sporting talent," a release from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said.
“Hockey is more than just a sport for us—it’s a symbol of our national pride. The hard work, commitment, and passion displayed by the team have led to this historic success. You have shown the world what can be achieved with resolve and determination,” Dr Mansukh Mandaviya emphasised while encouraging them to continue striving for excellence and to set their sights on even greater achievements in the future
After suffering a heartbreak 2-3 defeat against Germany in the semi-final, India defeated Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match. Overall, it was India's 13 hockey medals at Games. They have won only two Olympics medals in the last 44 years.
