The Indian women's hockey team, with 2368.83 points, is now regarded as the sixth best women's hockey team in the world following their success in the Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023.
The Indian Women's Hockey Team was ranked eighth recently, but they made history by winning the bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022 and the Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi in 2023. This has helped them return to their best-ever ranking, which they last attained in the FIH Pro League in June 2022.

After Argentina with 2766.90 points and Australia in second position with 2817.73 points, the Netherlands is still the top women's hockey team in the world with 3422.40 points. Belgium, ranked fourth with 2608.77 points, and Germany, ranked fifth with 2573.72 points, are the two teams ranked higher than India.
The team's preparations for the next FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, which are set to take place in Ranchi, India from January 13 to January 19, 2024, are getting a major boost from their recent rise in the global rankings. The Indian women's hockey team will compete against the Czech Republic, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the United States, and Italy in an attempt to earn a spot in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
"I would like to congratulate the team on achieving this ranking, it is a testament to the hard work and sacrifices they have made in their careers so far," Hockey India President Padma Shri Dr. Dilip Tirkey stated, praising the Indian Women's Hockey Team. With time, the club hopes to crack the top three, which is a positive sign that they are improving. With the addition of Peter Haberl as a mental conditioning coach, I have no doubt that the group will soon surpass itself and continue to grow.
In agreement with the President, Hockey India Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh stated, "The Indian Women's Hockey Team deserves all the accolades they are receiving; they have worked hard to become the sixth-best team in the world." Additionally, there is a fantastic chance to demonstrate to the world that India is a formidable power in hockey with the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers approaching.
