Italy Women’s Hockey Team Arrives In Hyderabad For FIH World Cup 2026 Qualifiers In Telangana

Hyderabad, March 4: The Italian women's national hockey team has touched down in Hyderabad ahead of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers. The qualifying tournament is scheduled to take place in Telangana from March 8 to 14. The high-stakes tournament will feature eight teams battling for three coveted spots at the FIH Hockey World Cup, scheduled for Belgium and the Netherlands in August later this year.

Italy has been placed in Pool A, where they will face England, Korea, and Austria. The European side has previously qualified for the FIH Hockey World Cup twice, in 1976 and 2018, and recorded its best-ever finish of ninth place.

The Italian team will kick off their qualifying campaign against England on March 8. Subsequently, they will take on Austria on March 9 before wrapping up their pool fixtures against Korea on March 11.

On the occasion, the captain of the Italian women's national hockey team, Sara Puglisi said, "We have just arrived in Hyderabad after a good period of preparation with the team. We are ready to compete and achieve the results we need to qualify for the FIH Hockey World Cup. That is what we hope, and that's what we have trained so hard for."
