Jarkhar Academy and Amloh IX win in Punjab hockey
Ludhiana, Jan 14 (UNI) Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy, Jarkhar (pool A) and Amloh XI (pool B) expectedly topped their respective pools with 12 points apiece in the inaugural Western Union Punjab Hockey B League for Boys Under-14 here today.
Gurdeep Singh fashioned the 10-0 win for Amloh XI against Sahib Dass Hockey Academy of Sangrur as he pumped in six goals. It was Amloha's fourth successive win as they finished their league fixtures.
Gurdeep was on the target in the 3rd, 20th, 25th, 37th, 48th and 50th minutes. Sandeep (17th, 34th), Sarabjit (47th) and Shiv Kumar (7th) were the other goal-getters. Amloh XI could convert only two penalty corners out of six.
Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy, Jarkhar secured full three points against Grewal Kila Raipur Hockey Academy whom they routed by 5-1. With their fourth successive triumph Jarkhar Academy finished their five-team league programme. They topped their pool and also qualified for the semi-finals.
Jarkhar Academy got their first goal in the 11th minute through Harminder and Lakhwinder made it 2-0 in the 20th minute. Kila Raipur Academy scored their sole goal in the 24th minute as Navjot converted a penalty corner with a good shot.
Jarkhar Academy then pumped in three more goals through Arvinder (37th), Amritpal (41st) and Amritpal Senior (47th). Kila Raipur Academy were awarded six penalty corners but could convert only one.
Ferozepur Hockey Academy defeated Mehta Gurukul Hockey Academy, Doraha by 3-1 after being tied one-all in first half in the Pool A match. Ferozepur Academy were one up in the second minute through a field goal scored by Jugraj. Mehta Gurukul Hockey Academy, Doraha worked hard and levelled the score in the 23th minute through Arshdeep. Ferozepur struck two goals in the second half as Gurjeet and Gurbaj found the object in the 36th and 47th minutes.
Khambra Hockey Academy suffered another humiliation as they lost to Khaira Hockey Academy of Ludhiana by six goals without reply.
Dominating from the beginning, Khaira Hockey Academy scored through Sukhpreet (9th, 26th, 47th), Kulwinder (2nd and 45th) and Davinder (15th).
Tomorrow the league programme will finish and the second qualifiers from each pool will be identified.
