The Indians earlier defeated the Netherlands, who are ranked fourth in the world, 4-3 on Tuesday in the quarterfinals after putting on an incredible show of guts and spirit. However, on Thursday, Ben Hasbach's clinical show proved their deathnote.

The German forward gave them the lead twice in the first quarter on either side of Chirmako's goal before Paul Glander and Florian Sperling scored in the third and fourth quarter respectively to seal the win.

In the first quarter, Hasbach's opening goal agianst the run of play was negated by Chirmako in a quarter dominated by India. Hasbach seized possession of the ball following a mistake in midfield to score on the rebound and give Germany the lead.

With a brilliant strike from the edge of the circle, Chirmako gave India an equaliser. The German goalkeeper had come forward to narrow the angle, but the Indian kept him at bay to sneak the goal in. But that was the only thing going for the Indian team's way.
