Neha is set to lead the Odisha Warriors in the inaugural Women's Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25. Recently married, she remains committed to balancing her personal and professional life.
"My goal is to lead by example and bring out the best in my team," Neha stated as she prepared for this significant role.

Fresh from a victory with the Indian team at the Asian Champions Trophy, Neha is ready for her new leadership role. She emphasised the importance of the Women's HIL for young players, saying, "We've been waiting for a platform like this for years, and now that it's finally here, it feels surreal. It's a huge opportunity for young girls to showcase their talent on a national stage."
Neha expressed excitement about captaining the Odisha Warriors, despite feeling some pressure. "This is my first major tournament as a captain, and while there’s a sense of pressure, I’m excited about the challenge," she said. Her experience with the Indian setup has prepared her well for this responsibility.
Balancing personal milestones with her career, Neha remains focused on hockey. "Managing both aspects of my life is something I’ve been doing for years. My marriage doesn’t change my approach towards the game," she explained. Her husband's support allows her to concentrate fully on the HIL.
The HIL auction saw Neha acquired for INR 10 lakh, highlighting her value in hockey. She hopes to use this money to support young athletes. "I want to give back in some way, perhaps by supporting girls in hockey academies who need financial assistance," she shared.
Playing at home brings added motivation for Neha. "Playing in front of a home crowd is always special," she noted. The support from fans was crucial during their success in Rajgir, and she hopes for similar energy during the HIL.
As a central midfielder, Neha aims to contribute both offensively and defensively in the league. Her advice to young players is clear: "My advice to young players is to seize this opportunity and express yourselves on the field." The league offers them a chance to develop their skills early in their careers.
The Women's HIL marks a pivotal moment in Indian women's hockey, offering new opportunities for growth and recognition. Neha's leadership will be instrumental in guiding her team through this historic event.
