North East XI, PNB, Western Railway win in Nehru Hockey

New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) Romen Kumar Singh struck thrice as North East XI (Assam) beat IHF (Under 16) 4-2 to advance into the next round of the 44th Nehru Hockey tournament here today.

Romen scored in the sixth, 58th and 60th minutes while team-mate Abung Singh added another in the 13th minute. For IHF, Manpreet Singh (26th) and Siddharth Shankar (69th) found the target.

In the other matches of the day, Western Railway blanked SAI XI 3-0 with goals from Jasdev (44th), Amarjeet (46th) and Gurusevak Singh (68th), while PNB XI beat Haryana XI 4-1.

Banmani (19th), Yudhveer (28th) and Jatinder Saroha (35th) scored for PNB after Sumit had given Haryana the lead in the 10th minute.
