The Indian men's Hockey team secured a famous victory over Spain to clinch the Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
A 2-1 victory in the match was enough as the Men in Blue recorded their 2nd consecutive medal in Hockey in the Olympics, after winning Bronze in Tokyo three years ago. India captain Harmanpreet Singh was the star of the show with two goals.

India and Spain both had a measured start but the Spaniards created a bit more in the offense. Hardik Singh and Abhishek had a good quarter as the teams ended without a goal in the first 15 minutes. Spain then broke the deadlocks with a goal in the 18th minute. Manpreet Singh made a poor challenge which earned the Spaniards a penalty stroke. Marc Miralles made no mistake and scored a goal past Sreejesh, who played his final international match for India.
The Men in Blue came close a couple of times but couldn't breach the Spanish goal. But it was the Indian captain who rose to the occasion again. Harmanpreet Singh got India back in the match with a last-gasp drag flick before the half time.
After the break, India started on the ascendancy. The men in blue ventured forward with purpose and got their reward soon. From a penalty corner, Harmanpreet Singh doubled the lead in fantastic fashion. The India skipper came close to a hat-trick minutes after but Calzado was forced to make a crucial save.
In the final quarter, Spain had a chance early but Recasens' drag flick flew wide of target. Lalit Upadhyay saw his strike go wide as India pushed for a cushion. Although Spain huffed and puffed, the Indian defence stood tall to clinch a memorable win and thus secured a Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.
PR Sreejesh, India's trusted custodian, bid adieu to the international game after the heroics as the entire team rejoiced on a sunny afternoon at the French capital. The win has taken India's medal tally to 4 in the Paris Olympics.
