PHF announces salary for selectors
Lahore, May 1 (UNI) Following in the footsteps of the nation's cricket board, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has decided to introduce paid selectors in order to bring in more transparency in the selection process.
The PHF secretary Khalid Mahmood told reporters that the newly-appointed chief selector Khawaja Zakauddin along with two selectors Abdul Rashid and Samiullah would now be paid for their job.
Apart from the selectors, the PHF has also decided to pay the Chairman of the board for his services.
The board secretary also informed that the PHF had struck a sponsorship deal with National Bank of Pakistan and under the terms and conditions of the deal, the bank would provide Rs 20 million annually to the hockey board.
''The amount is less as PHF needs around Rs 100 million annually to meet all expenditures. The PHF has planned to have paid selectors, coaches, and other technical people for which huge money is needed,'' Mahmood said.
He also clarified the recent reports about Australia's reservations in participating at the Champions Trophy later this year in Lahore.
''I think the Australians will feature in Champions Trophy as FIH delegates who recently toured Pakistan were hopeful for Australia' s participation,'' he said UNI
