Sardar Singh, the mentor of Soorma Hockey Club and a former Indian men's hockey team captain, shared his thoughts on the auction. Reflecting on the team's focus on Indian talent, he said, "We used to prefer foreign players earlier, but this time we've chosen Indian players, and I believe they deserve it for their recent performances."

Sardar highlighted his team's strategy during the auction, noting their intent to acquire top players like Hardik Singh and Harmanpreet Singh. "We had targeted Hardik and Harman, and eventually, we got Harman. Now, our focus is on bringing in young talent," he remarked.

Sardar, who has been involved in all editions of the HIL, further emphasized the league's role in Indian hockey. "I think the Hockey India League (HIL) will be crucial for Indian players and coaches. India's recent performances have been brilliant, and they will learn from coaches and players who have a wealth of experience."

When asked about the team's captain, Sardar expressed confidence in Harmanpreet Singh. "Harman is the obvious choice as captain, but we will need more leaders in the team. Everyone can be a leader in hockey," he said.

For Sardar, transitioning into a mentoring role is an exciting new challenge. "This is a new experience for me, and hopefully, I will excel at it," he concluded.
