Kolkata, Aug 31: Sathi Dolui is being crowned as the best female striker in Bengal hockey's history. The 20-year-old received appreciation from experts and considered as one of the most promising junior female hockey players in the country.

During her brief stint in the junior national preparatory camp in Bengaluru, last year, Indian women's team captain Ritu Rani had a lot of praise for her.

Ritu Rani was impressed after watching Sathi in a practice match there.

The coach of the junior national girls' team and former Olympian Baljit Singh Saini had also appreciated her.

Saini once told her,"You have enough potential to shine at the senior level in near future. You will have to only work hard."

Sathi, who hails from a remote village in Burdwan district in West Bengal, could not continue in national preparatory camp due to her leg injury. She was forced to come back home as the doctor prescribed her to take complete rest for six months.

However, Sathi's return was quite natural. She already received a lot of injuries from the beginning of her career. She had to practice barefooted on an uneven muddy nearby field.

She did not have even a proper hockey stick. Sathi said, "Playing barefooted I had several injuries on my feet. Still, I did not give up and continued practicing under former national player Surabhi Mitra in my nearby village club.

"But I will never forget my return from the junior India camp despite having impressed coach Baljit sir and my idol Ritu Rani."

Deeply anguished Sathi had returned to her home and used to watch the famous Bollywood movie 'Chak De India' that time.

Her father Sajal Dolui is a farmer who does not have his own land. So, it happens sometimes when Sathi's father becomes jobless.

That's what Sathi regrets the most. The 20-year-old feels she's in dire need of a job.

"I badly need a job. But even after having represented Bengal in both senior and junior I have not received any job offer. But I will not up. My dream is to play alongside Ritu Rani in the senior women's national team."
