Ranchi, September 12: Hockey India on Tuesday (September 12) announced the schedule for the upcoming Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023, which will take place at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf hockey stadium in Ranchi from October 27 to November 5.
The Asian Champions Trophy 2023 will see six teams do battle for the coveted trophy as Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, China, and India go head to head in a single round-robin pool stage with the top 4 at the end of the first round earning a spot in the knockout round.

The knockout round will include the two semifinals followed by the third place playoff and the final, while the 5th and 6th placed teams will lock horns in a fifth place playoff match. The first round concludes on November 2 and the knockout stage starts on November 4.
There will be a total of 20 matches with three matches taking place everyday bar the final day, when only two matches will be staged. All the matches will be hosted at a single venue in Ranchi.
The Indian women's team will begin their campaign with a clash against Thailand on October 27, while the tournament kicks off with Malaysia taking on Japan in the first game of the opening day.
Hosts India have been in good form, particularly after the historic bronze at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and title victory at FIH Hockey Women's Nations Cup Spain last year.
The hosts have also won the Asian Champions Trophy in 2016 and were runners-up in 2018. They will face Korea in their last match of the group stage on November 2.
Defending champions Japan will face a stiff challenge from Korea, the most decorated team in the history of the tournament which has won three out of six editions of the tournament in 2010, 2011, and 2016.
All the participating teams are part of One Pool and the top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, where the team finishing on top of the table will take on the team that finishes fourth and the teams finishing second and third will play each other to decide the finalists.
