Hockey India has announced the squad for the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024, which is set to take place in Rajgir, Bihar, from November 11 to 20.
Defending champions India will be captained by Salima Tete, while the experienced Navneet Kaur will take up the vice-captaincy. India enters the tournament with confidence, having defeated Japan 4-0 in the final of the previous edition to secure their second title.

The Indian squad is a balanced mix of experience and youth, with notable players returning after rehabilitation. In goal, India will rely on the veteran Savita and young talent Bichu Devi Kharibam. The defensive line is strengthened by seasoned defenders like Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Udita, Jyoti, Ishika Chaudhary, and Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke.
In the midfield, Salima Tete leads a dynamic group, supported by players such as Neha, Sharmila Devi, Manisha Chauhan, Sunelita Toppo, and Lalremsiami. The forward line includes powerful scorers like Navneet Kaur, Sangita Kumari, Deepika, Preeti Dubey, and Beauty Dungdung, who has made a commendable comeback alongside Sushila.
Speaking on the team's readiness, Tete expressed her pride in leading the team as defending champions. "We have trained rigorously and have a strong unit with both experienced players and young talent. Our goal is to defend our title and play with the same passion and determination we showed last year," she said.
Playing in front of a home crowd in Rajgir is expected to boost the team's morale. Vice-captain Navneet Kaur highlighted the team's preparation, stating, "We are confident in our preparation and the chemistry we've built within the team. Working alongside Salima has been great, and we are determined to make this tournament a memorable one."
India aims to retain the title and add another chapter to their successful journey in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
