Ajith Kumar: Most Expensive Player on Day 2 of PKL 2024 Auction Joins Puneri Paltan for Rs 66 Lakh

Ajith Kumar emerged as the most expensive player on the second day of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 auction, as Puneri Paltan secured his services for a hefty sum of Rs. 66 lakh.

The Tamil Nadu native, who first made his mark in the PKL with Tamil Thalaivas in 2019, has shown consistent performance across multiple seasons, making him a sought-after player in this year's auction.

Ajith Kumar's journey in the PKL began with the Tamil Thalaivas during Season 7. In his debut season, he played 19 matches and earned a total of 82 points. His performance on the mat was noteworthy, with a raid strike rate of 42% and an average of 4.21 raid points per match.

He executed 191 raids, out of which 34% were successful, securing 80 raid points. Ajith also demonstrated his ability to stay on the mat, maintaining a not-out percentage of 71.2%. He managed three super raids and achieved one Super 10 during the season.

Following his debut, Ajith moved to U Mumba for Season 8, where he truly shone. His performance improved significantly, as he played 20 matches and earned a total of 159 points. His raid points per match nearly doubled from the previous season, rising to 7.95.

With 291 raids executed, his successful raid percentage increased to 44%, resulting in 159 raid points. Ajith's ability to stay on the mat also saw an improvement, with a not-out percentage of 76.63%. He executed five super raids and achieved six Super 10s during the season, solidifying his reputation as a reliable raider.

Ajith's consistent performance caught the eye of the Jaipur Pink Panthers, who acquired him for Season 9. Over the next two seasons with Jaipur, Ajith continued to be a key player. In Season 9, he played 21 matches, earning 103 points with an average of 4.76 raid points per match.

He executed 216 raids with a 38% success rate, resulting in 100 raid points. Ajith's not-out percentage improved to 79.17%, highlighting his resilience on the mat. During this season, he achieved two Super Raids and three Super 10s, contributing significantly to Jaipur's title-winning campaign.

In the following season, Season 10, Ajith played 19 matches, earning 82 points, mirroring his debut season performance. He maintained an average of 4.21 raid points per match, with a successful raid percentage of 34% from 191 raids. His not-out percentage stood at 71.2%, with three super raids and one Super 10 to his name.

Ajith Kumar's overall PKL statistics reflect his steady rise as a raider. Across 79 matches, he has earned a total of 465 points, with an average of 5.82 raid points per match. He has executed 915 raids, with a 41% success rate, resulting in 460 raid points. Ajith has also demonstrated his knack for pulling off super raids, with 11 super raids and 15 Super 10s to his credit. His overall not-out percentage stands at an impressive 74.54%.

Ajith Kumar's journey from his debut with Tamil Thalaivas to becoming the most expensive player on Day 2 of the PKL 2024 auction with Puneri Paltan reflects his growth.
