Nagpur, Jan 29 (UNI) The All India 'MP's Cup' Kabaddi Tournament for club teams of men and women will be held here next month.
Speaking to reporters here today, Union Minister of State for Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar said that the tournament would be held under the aegis of Maratha Lancers, an organisation of which he is President, from February 7 to 10.
The tournament had been approved by Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India and Vidarbha Kabaddi Association, he said.
Clubs from all over the country, including those from Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Indore, Kolkata, Manipur, Chennai, Kanyakumari and Kerala, would participate in the tournament, Mr Muttemwar added.
The prize money includes Rs one lakh in cash for the winners, Rs 75,000 for the runners-up in the men's section, Rs 71,000 for the winners and Rs 51,000 for the runners-up in the women's section, he informed.
Mr Muttemwar stated that in addition, the members of the winner and runner up teams, and the players of the series would each receive 21-inch colour television sets.
Maratha Lancers Secretary Madan Ratan said the trophy had been named 'MP's Cup' in recognition of the fact that Mr Muttemwar is the Member of Parliament from Nagpur.
