Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) A successful last raid by Trupti Bhatkar gave Amar Hind Mandal (Dadar) a narrow 15-14 win over Dr Shirodkar's Sports Club and a ticket to the semi-finals of the Radha Lad Cup in the Shivneri Sewa Mandal-URL Foundation Kabaddi Festival, being held here today.
Also making it to the last four was Veer Jijamata, who ran over Siddhi Sports (Sion) by a huge 50-12 scoreline.
The match between Amar Hind and Dr Shirodkar was expected to be a thriller, but except the last moment heroics of Trupti there was hardly anything for the spectators.
Both the teams indulged in safety tactics resulting in an 8-6 lead for Amar Hind who were slightly more attacking. With international Meghali Kkalgaonkar having shifted her allegiance to Dr Shirodkar some fireworks were expected, but the Railway girl alongwith Sujata Kalgaonkar the well built raider failed to fire.
Besides Trupti, Akshaya Gosavi came up with useful raids. Anamika Pawar had a couple of good catches to her credit, aiding her team to a creditable win.
In the men's 'C' division Panchganga beat Shivshankar 40-8 and Arun Kreeda Mandal prevailed 20-10 over Ramsevak Kreeda Mandal. For Arun Kreeda Mandal, the experienced duo of Rajendra Shelar and Kundan Tondwalkar did the raiding job to perfection. Shrikant Tonwalkar's catching proved valuable, for Ramsevak Sandeep Sawant showed some aggression claiming three and two points in a couple of well-timed raids.
