How Lucknow Lions Are Transforming Kabaddi in Uttar Pradesh: Founder Prashant Singh’s Vision
Prashant, the innovative owner of the Lucknow Lions, is emerging as a transformative leader in the kabaddi world, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. With a background as an IIT graduate, Prashant combines academic brilliance with an unrelenting passion for the sport, aiming to inspire the next generation of kabaddi players.
For Prashant, kabaddi is much more than a game-it's a family legacy. His father's role as a national-level kabaddi player for Uttar Pradesh deeply influenced his early love for the sport. "Kabaddi is in my blood," Prashant proudly states. "It's my mission to nourish this sport and provide a platform for young talent to shine."

Empowering Uttar Pradesh's Kabaddi Talent
Prashant's ambitions go beyond collecting trophies. His mission is to discover and nurture local talent, ensuring recognition for their skills and hard work. "Young players like Mohd Amaan are prime examples of the potential Uttar Pradesh holds," he notes. "Our focus is on nurturing such talent and providing them with opportunities to thrive."
The Lucknow Lions' first season in the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL) was historic, as they clinched the championship with Arjun Deshwal as their captain. This milestone led to greater opportunities, with six of their players securing spots in the Pro Kabaddi League's (PKL) Season 11. This success underscores Prashant's commitment to talent development and team excellence.
Creating Role Models and Elevating Kabaddi
Prashant sees his role as more than just owning a team; he views it as a responsibility to elevate kabaddi. "As a young blood, it's not just my role to enjoy the game but to take responsibility for elevating it," he says. His efforts have already created stars like Arjun Deshwal, Mohd Amaan, Nitin Panwar, and Arpit Saroha, inspiring countless young players.
His foresight was evident in the inaugural season's player auction when he targeted Arjun Deshwal, recognizing his potential to motivate upcoming athletes. "We always had our eyes on Arjun," Prashant recalls. "We knew his game could inspire young kabaddi players. If he can achieve greatness, so can they."
A Vision of Inclusive Growth
Prashant is committed to supporting underprivileged but talented players, ensuring financial barriers don't hinder their aspirations. "In the upcoming seasons, we aim to set an example by supporting talented players from humble backgrounds," he shares. His dedication includes mentorship, resources, and exposure to elevate the sport across Uttar Pradesh.
As the team prepares for UPKL Season 2, Prashant's vision remains clear: nurturing talent, preserving the sport's cultural heritage, and inspiring future generations. His leadership ensures that the Lucknow Lions are not just champions but also torchbearers for kabaddi's bright future.
