Inaugural Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup kabaddi tourney from May 2

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) A dozen top districts from Maharashtra in the men's and women's sections will fight for a cash booty of around Rs six lakh in the inaugural Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Invitational Kabaddi tournament to be held at Panvel from May 2 to 5.

The four-day tournament is being organised by the Ramsheth Thakur Samajik Vikas Mandal under the auspices of the Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association.

The first prize in both the sections will carry a purse of Rs 1.10 lakh. In addition to the men's and women's competitions, a separate competition only for leading teams from Raigad has also been scheduled, former member of Parliament and President of the Mandal Ramsheth Thakur informed.

He further said a temporary stadium to seat around ten thousand spectators will be erected at the CKT College maidan in Khanda Colony, New Panvel, where the tournament will be held.
