The current edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2023 is nearing its climax, as teams vie for coveted spots in the playoffs.

In the league's first four seasons, only the top four teams used to progress to the playoffs. However, starting from the fifth season, the playoff format expanded to include six teams. This adjustment has opened the door for more teams to dream of playoff glory.

In this ongoing season, two teams have already booked their places in the playoffs. Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltan have advanced to the business end, and eight teams are in the hunt for the final four places.

With the Kolkata leg of PKL approaching from today, let's have a look at the teams with most playoff appearances in the history of PKL.

Tamil Thalaivas - 1

Tamil Thalaivas stand out for their limited success, having reached the playoffs only once, which came in last season. The Thalaivas failed to enter the Final though as they got eliminated from the semifinals.

Haryana Steelers - 2

In contrast, Haryana Steelers have made it to the playoffs on two occasions, in the fifth and seventh seasons, yet have never advanced to the final.

Telugu Titans - 2

Telugu Titans, who are currently at the bottom of the table, have made two playoff appearances in the second and fourth seasons of the PKL.

Gujarat Giants - 3

Since their introduction in the fifth season, Gujarat Giants have reached the playoffs three times, including a memorable run to the final in their second season.

Jaipur Pink Panthers - 4

Jaipur Pink Panthers have four Playoff appearances to their name and out of them, they became champions twice. The Panthers won the PKL in the inaugural season and they doubled their tally in 2022.

Dabang Delhi - 4

Similarly, Dabang Delhi has reached the playoffs four times, securing their first championship in PKL Season 8 in 2021.

Bengal Warriors - 4

Bengal Warriors, the titleholders from the seventh season, have also made four playoff appearances but have not been able to sustain their success in the subsequent seasons.

UP Yoddhas - 5

UP Yoddhas, despite making it to the top six on five occasions, have yet to reach a final.

U Mumba - 5

U Mumba, who won the title in the second and third seasons, have made five playoff appearances but have found it challenging to maintain their dominance in recent editions.

Puneri Paltan - 6

Puneri Paltan have made six playoff appearances. Puneri Paltan achieved playoff status in three consecutive seasons early in the league's history and also made appearances in the eighth and ninth seasons.

Patna Pirates - 6

Patna Pirates are the most successful team in PKL history. The three-time champions were playoff regulars in the league's initial five seasons, faced a brief hiatus, but returned to the playoffs in the eighth season.

Bengaluru Bulls - 6

Bengaluru Bulls have also made six playoff appearances. They managed to secure a spot in the playoffs during the league's inaugural season and qualified for the postseason in the last season as well. As the current season progresses, they are among the teams aiming to secure another playoff berth.

Throughout the history of the Pro Kabaddi League, these teams have demonstrated remarkable success and consistency. With multiple playoff appearances and several championship titles among them, they have established themselves as formidable forces in the league.
