The new season of vivo Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is scheduled to start later this year, but before that, the build up for the upcoming campaign starts with Season 11 PKL Player Auction.
PKL started as an eight franchise tournament back in 2014 and has since 2017 expanded to a twelve franchise tournament with the addition of four new teams, making the league even bigger with more stars on display.

During the milestone Season 10 auction, high-flier Pawan Sehrawat was picked up by Telugu Titans for a whopping Rs 2.61 crore, making him the most expensive player in PKL history. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh was the second expensive pick by Puneri Paltan for Rs 2.35 Crore.
PKL season 10 finished earlier this year in March, when Puneri Paltan won their first Pro Kabaddi title after beating Haryana Steelers 28-25 in the final. And following their success, Puneri Paltan will be eager to add to their squad at the auction.
Puneri Paltan, however, will have little to do compared to 10 other teams at the auction, having retained 12 players. Tamil Thalaivas also have retained 11 players heading into the auction in search of at least 7 more players for the new season.
Now, as the stage is set for PKL to return within a year after last season, here is a look at the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 auction rules, base price, salary purse, players retention details:
The total Salary Purse available to each franchise for its squad is Rs 5 Crore. But the remaining purse of each franchise will vary depending on their retentions ahead of the auction as a total of 88 players were retained by the teams.
The PKL teams also had a choice of retaining players from their respective PKL Season 10 squads as per the league policies. The franchises were allowed to retain up to 6 players under the Elite Retained Players classification under stipulated conditions in each PKL season.
Plus, teams were also allowed to retain players in the Retained Young Players and New Existing Young Players category. Each team will also have three final bid match (FBM) cards available to them to buy back players they released by matching final bid for the player.
Among the 88 players retained, 22 were from the Elite Retained Players, 26 from the Retained Young Players, and 40 from the Existing New Young Players category.
The released players will enter the pool of 500+ that will go under the hammer during the two-day auction process in Mumbai. Like seasons 8, 9 and 10, the Season 11 Player Pool will include the 24 players from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2024.
Each team can have a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players to compete in PKL 2024. With 88 players already retained by the franchises, there are now 212 slots left to be filled during the Season 11 player auction.
The Season 11 Player Auctions will see Domestic, Overseas, and New Young Players (NYPs) divided into four categories: Category A, B, C and D. Within each category, the players will be further sub-divided as 'All-Rounders', 'Defenders' and 'Raiders'.
Each category player registers their names at different reserve prices for the auction. Base prices for each of the category in the Pro Kabaddi Season 11 player auction will be as follows:
