The first day of the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 Auction turned out to be an intensifying affair as all 12 teams came out all guns blazing to select their strong squads, thanks to their think tank teams.
Some of the big non-retained players including Pawan Sehrwat, Manindeer Singh, Pardeep Narwal, Fazel Atrachali Ajinkya Pawar, and Mohammadreza Chiyaneh found their teams on Day 1 of the PKL 2024 auction.

Apart from the senior Indian players, the auction also witnessed overseas players from across the globe going under the hammer. Furthermore, the auction will also have 24 players from the two final teams at the Khelo India University Games 2024.
That said, let's delve into the details of the top five expensive players on Day 1 of the PKL 2024 Auction.
Bharat, the star raider for the Bengaluru Bulls in the last three seasons, has got a new franchise in UP Yoddhas for the upcoming PKL 2024 season. He was bought for INR 1.30 Crore. With star raider Surender Gill already retained, UP Yoddhas looks like a powerful raiding unit with Bharat joining in.
Bharat's best PKL season came in 2022 when he accumulated 282 points from 23 matches. He propelled the Bengaluru Bulls franchise to the semi-final, where they suffered a loss to the eventual champions Jaipur Pink Panthers.
Pawan Sehrawat has been retained by the Telugu Titans via the Final Bid Match (FBM) option for INR 1.725 Crore. He accumulated 217 points from 21 matches in the previous season for the Titans. However, he couldn't change the fate of the franchise.
With him being roped in again, Sehrawat would be hoping to reverse the fortunes of the Titans. He played a crucial role for the Bengaluru Bulls, accumulating 962 points in three seasons in the past. Sehrawat still holds the record of being the most expensive player in PKL history at 2.6 Crore.
The former U Mumba star raider Guman Singh has been acquired by the Gujarat Giants for INR 1.97 Crore. Guman accumulated 305 points in the last two seasons for U Mumba, emerging as one of the top raiders for the franchise.
He made his PKL debut with the Jaipur Pink Panthers in 2019, scoring five points in three games. Later, he was roped in by the Patna Pirates for the 2021 season, where he scored 97 points.
PKL runners-up Haryana Steelers looked aggressive in the PKL 2024 Auction as they started off, picking up the star defender from Iran, Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh at a whopping price of INR 2.07 Crore.
He accumulated 97 successful tackle points for the Puneri Palltan in the 10th edition and was released by the franchise ahead of the auction. His PKL journey started with Patna Pirates in the 2021 season. He accumulated 94 and 89 points in the 2021 and 2022 seasons respectively.
Sachin Tanwar emerged as the most expensive pick on the first day of the PKL 2024 Auction at INR 2.15 Crore. He was roped in by the Tamil Thalaivas as the franchise hopes to turn the tables this time around.
The do-or-die raid specialist Sachin Tanwar was simply impressive for the Patna Pirates in the previous three PKL seasons, amassing 544 points. It's worth noting that he is only 48 points away from scoring 1000 raid points in PKL.
With Narender already part of the squad, Sachin's inclusion makes Thalaivas a strong raiding unit. With Sahil and Mohit part of the defense, Tamil Thalaivas have already strengthened their squad so far.
