The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2024) Season 11 began on October 18, with Telugu Titans defeating Bengaluru Bulls 37-29 in the opening match held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

The tournament features 12 teams, including Puneri Paltan, defending their maiden title won in the previous season. A total of 137 matches will be played over three months in a caravan format, starting in Hyderabad, and then moving to Noida and Pune.

The playoffs, scheduled for January, will include the top six teams from the double round-robin league stage. Defense plays a crucial role in winning championships, as demonstrated by Puneri Paltan, whose solid defense helped them secure the title last season.

Leading defenders like Fazel Atrachali, Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, Sunil Kumar, and Krishan Dhull have become household names in the PKL. Fazel Atrachali, captain of Bengal Warriors, holds the record for the most tackle points in PKL history with 491 points, while Chiyaneh led last season with 97 tackle points in 24 matches.

Other top defenders like Ankush Rathee, Sagar Rathi, and Jaideep Dahiya are expected to perform well this season, as teams focus on strong defensive strategies to secure victories.
