U Mumba and Tamil Thalaivas secured two crucial victories in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2024) on Wednesday (October 23).
Amirmohammad Zafardanesh delivered an impressive performance for U Mumba as they secured their first points of the season by the Gujarat Giants 33-27. Interestingly, Guman Singh, who scored three points for the Giants, was part of U Mumba last year.

The match began with U Mumba taking the lead through Manjeet and Amirmohammad Zafardanesh. However, the Gujarat Giants quickly responded, with Parteek Dahiya, Guman Singh, and Jitender Yadav helping to level the score. The game was fiercely contested from the start, with both teams unwilling to give an inch.
Manjeet led U Mumba's charge in the first half, establishing a three-point lead midway through. Himanshu's Tackle for Gujarat brought the scores level again. By halftime, U Mumba held a narrow 14-13 lead. Early in the second half, Amirmohammad Zafardanesh executed an OUT on Gujarat Giants, giving U Mumba crucial momentum.
Despite this setback, Gujarat Giants were determined to fight back. As time progressed in the second half, U Mumba maintained their advantage. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Gujarat trailed by five points but continued to press hard.
In another encounter, Tamil Thalaivas showcased a comprehensive performance against Puneri Paltan at GMCB Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. They emerged victorious with a 35-30 scoreline, ending Puneri Paltan's 14-match unbeaten streak dating back to PKL season 10.
Tamil Thalaivas started strong, gaining a five-point lead within five minutes thanks to Narender Kandola and Nitesh Kumar. Mohit Goyat then sparked a comeback for Puneri Paltan with quick points. As the first half progressed, Tamil Thalaivas kept their opponents at bay.
With the win, Tamil Thalaivas now sit 4th in the points table with 10 points in two matches. U Mumba are currently placed 7th in the standings with 5 points in two matches.
