PKL 2024 Top Defender: Who Had The Most Tackle Points & High 5 in Pro Kabaddi Season 10?

After two and half months of action, the milestone season of Pro Kabaddi League - PKL 2023-24 will be brought to a halt with the title clash between Puneri Paltan and Haryana Steelers at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday (March 1).

A new champion will be crowned after the PKL 2024 final, but the top defender seems to have been a bygone conclusion way before the league phase ended as a former winner sealed the orange sleeve race very early.

PKL 2024 Best Defender - Mohammadreza Chiyaneh (Puneri Paltan)

Puneri Paltan's Iranian all-rounder Mohammadreza Chiyaneh, who won the best defender title in his debut season of PKL in 2021, has all but sealed the title in 2024 by registering nearly 100 tackle points before the final, and can add to his tally in the summit clash.

While Chiyaneh tops the list, the next best is way behind the Iranian in terms of tackle points. Patna Pirates' Krishan Dhull sits in second followed by Dabang Delhi's Yoges, and the Haryana Steelers pair Rahul Sethpal and Mohit Nandal, who could climb up the standings in the final.

The finalist Haryana Steelers also have another player in the top 10 defenders list in the form of co-captain Jaideep Dahiya, who features in the top 10 alongside Jaipur Pink Panthers' Ankush, Patna Pirates' Ankit, and Tamil Thalaivas duo Sagar and Sahil Gulia.

Here is the PKL 2024 top defender, the top 10 list for most tackle points, the player with most high 5s and the player involved in most super tackles followed by team stats from Pro Kabaddi League season 10:

Most Tackle Points in PKL Season 10

Ranking Player Team Tackle Points Matches
1 Mohammadreza Chiyaneh Puneri Paltan 99 24
2 Krishan Dhull Patna Pirates 78 24
3 Yogesh Dabang Delhi 74 23
4 Rahul Sethpal Haryana Steelers 73 23
5 Mohit Nandal Haryana Steelers 23 70
6 Ankush Jaipur Pink Panthers 70 22

8 Gaurav Khatri Puneri Paltan 69 24
9 Jaideep Dahiya Haryana Steelers 68 22
10 Sagar Tamil Thalaivas 66 18

Chiyaneh could be joined in the top 10 by another teammate as Gaurav Khatri, who has had a stellar season, can make huge strides during the final, where the Haryana Steelers trio also can move positions.

The Iranian, however, is unlikely to be caught up by any one even in the High 5 race, but is no where in the list for most super tackle involvement, which is topped by Steelers defender Rahul Sethpal.

  • Mohammadreza Chiyaneh (Puneri Paltan) - 11 in 24 matches

The two finalists Puneri Paltan and Haryana Steelers may have not topped the raiding contribution this season, but they dominate the defensive stats, showing why they are in the final.
