PKL 2024: U Mumba Edge Out Patna Pirates, Telugu Titans Triumph in Southern Derby Clash

In a thrilling night of Pro Kabaddi action, U Mumba and Telugu Titans clinched victories in two closely contested matches. U Mumba narrowly defeated Patna Pirates 42-40, powered by an incredible 19-point performance from Ajit, while Telugu Titans secured their third consecutive win by edging out Tamil Thalaivas 34-33 in the Southern Derby, led by Pawan Sehrawat's 12-point haul.

The match between U Mumba and Patna Pirates saw early dominance from Patna's raiding duo, Devank and Ayan, who set the tone with aggressive raids and even managed to inflict an All-Out on U Mumba through Ayan's bold two-point effort.

However, Ajit swiftly turned the tables, initiating U Mumba's comeback with consecutive Super Tackles that removed both Devank and Ayan from the mat. His prowess continued as he achieved a Super 10 with two Super Raids, closing the first half with U Mumba holding a narrow 24-21 lead.

Despite Patna's determined efforts, including a Super Raid by Devank that secured his own Super 10 and briefly put Patna ahead, Ajit's raiding excellence kept U Mumba in control. In the final moments, Ajit and Amirmohammad Zafardanesh combined to inflict another All-Out on Patna, sealing U Mumba's hard-fought victory. Alongside Ajit's impressive 19 raid points, Sombir supported with three critical tackle points, while Devank led Patna Pirates with 15 raid points and Deepak contributed three tackle points.

Meanwhile, Telugu Titans faced Tamil Thalaivas in an equally gripping contest. Pawan Sehrawat starred for the Titans with 12 points, combining well with Ashish Narwal to give his team an early advantage by inflicting an All-Out on the Thalaivas. Tamil Thalaivas' Sachin, however, was in outstanding form, finishing with 17 raid points and reaching the milestone of 1000 raid points in PKL. His powerful Super Raid closed the gap in the first quarter and later gave his team a brief lead in the second half.

The Titans stayed resilient, with Pawan completing his Super 10 and regaining the lead with a crucial three-point advantage. In a tense final exchange, Ankit's perfectly timed tackle on Sachin secured the Titans' slender 34-33 victory. While Pawan's 12 raid points and Sagar's three tackles stood out for Telugu Titans, Sachin's 17 points and Nitesh Kumar's four tackles were pivotal for Tamil Thalaivas.

These electrifying games showcased both emerging and established talents, promising even more intense encounters as the Pro Kabaddi season progresses.
