Sachin Tanwar emerged as the most expensive Indian player on the first day of the PKL Auction 2024 as he was acquired by the Tamil Thalaivas for a whopping price of INR 2.15 Crore.
Known as the do-or-die raid specialist, Sachin Tanwar played an exceptional role for the Patna Pirates in the last three editions, accumulating 544 points. Interestingly, he is only 48 points away from securing 1000 raid points in PKL.

He entered the PKL 2024 Auction, being part of Category A, with a base price of INR 30 Lakh. UP Yoddhas and Gujarat Giants started off the bidding war and in no time the bid crossed INR 1 Crore.
In quick succession, the bid touched INR 1.7 Crore and that was the point in time when Tamil Thalaivas, the third team, entered the bidding war alongside UP Yoddhas as the bid soon touched the INR 2 Crore mark.
Though UP Yoddhas tried their best to secure Sachin's services, Tamil Thalaivas were in no mood to down their paddle as they successfully won the final bid at INR 2.15 Crore to rope in the star raider.
With Narender already part of their side, Tamil Thalaivas now has a strong raiding unit and would be aiming to strengthen their defensive skills in the remainder of the auction.
Sachin Tanwar made his debut in the fifth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. He finished the season as the leading raid-point scorer for the Gujarat Giants with a total of 159 raid points.
Subsequently, his best season came in the sixth edition when he accumulated 204 total points from 23 games. However, in the seventh season, he could score only 85 points from 16 games and he was released ahead of the PKL 8 Auction.
At the PKL 2021 Auction, Patna Pirates roped in Sachin Tanwar for a whopping price of INR 84 Lakh. He accumulated 181 points from 23 games, emerging as the team's leading raider.
He continued to be with the Pirates for the ninth and 10th seasons, scoring 179 and 184 points respectively. Though he was among the top raiders for the franchise, he couldn't propel the team to a title victory.
