Pro Kabaddi 2024: Ajay Thakur has made an emotional and significant return to the Puneri Paltan, this time as the team's assistant coach. Known for his illustrious playing career and strong ties with the franchise, Thakur brings a wealth of experience and strategic acumen that could prove invaluable for the team.

Expressing his delight, Thakur said, "It feels great to be back. I have a lot of fond memories with this team, and now, in this new phase of my career, I'm excited to contribute in a different role."

The timing of his comeback couldn't be more critical. Puneri Paltan, the defending champions, find themselves in a tough spot this season, currently sitting seventh on the points table after losing three consecutive matches on home turf. Thakur's return could inject much-needed energy and guidance into the squad during this challenging phase.

Thakur previously represented Puneri Paltan in Seasons 3 and 4, where he played 30 matches and scored 115 Raid Points. Interestingly, his debut as a coach came against Dabang Delhi K.C., the franchise he led to a Pro Kabaddi League title in 2021, alongside their current head coach, Joginder Narwal.

Narwal, who shares a long-standing camaraderie with Thakur, expressed his excitement about the latter's new role. "Ajay and I have played together for years, from national and international events to Pro Kabaddi. He's not just a brilliant player but also a remarkable individual. I'm thrilled to see him return as a coach. He has what it takes to make a significant impact," Narwal said.
