Pro Kabaddi League: All-time Playing 7 of Patna Pirates in PKL

The Patna Pirates have established themselves as one of the most successful teams in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) history. With three titles under their belt, they remain the only team to have achieved such a feat.

Their dominance is underscored by consistent playoff performances, including a finals appearance, and their uncanny ability to unearth new talent. Having reached the semi-finals in the previous season, the Pirates are in pursuit of a record fourth title.

However, picking an all-time best seven from such a talented squad is not easy. Here, we take a look at the players who have been integral to Patna’s success over the years and earned their spot in the franchise's legacy.

1. Sandeep Narwal (Right Corner)

Nicknamed the "Beast from the East," Sandeep Narwal has been a standout performer for the Patna Pirates. Starting his PKL journey in Season 1, Sandeep was known initially for his quick raids, but over time, he became one of the league's most dependable defenders.
Playing a crucial role for Patna in Seasons 1, 2, and 3, Sandeep helped secure their maiden title in Season 3, along with two playoff appearances. During his time with Patna, he accumulated 147 raid points and 119 tackle points, cementing his reputation as a top-tier all-rounder.

2. Monu Goyat (Right In)

Monu Goyat was a pivotal part of Patna Pirates' success in Season 5, when the team won their third PKL title. He supported star raider Pardeep Narwal and finished the season with 200 points. Monu’s stellar performances helped secure Patna’s dominance during that season.
His value was further emphasized when he became the first Indian kabaddi player to be bought for over INR 1 crore in an auction, moving to Haryana Steelers. Returning to Patna in Season 9, Monu played an important role in the team’s run to the finals.

3. Pardeep Narwal (Center)

No discussion about Patna Pirates is complete without mentioning the "Dubki King," Pardeep Narwal. He is widely regarded as the best raider in PKL history, having led Patna to three consecutive titles in Seasons 3, 4, and 5.

Pardeep dominated the league, consistently topping the raiding charts and clinching the MVP award twice. His jaw-dropping total of 369 points in Season 5 remains a PKL record for the most points scored in a single season. By the time he left Patna for UP Yoddhas in Season 8, Pardeep had amassed an astounding 1,160 raid points for the Pirates, securing his place as a franchise legend.

4. Suresh Kumar (Left Cover)

Suresh Kumar was instrumental in shaping Patna’s defense during the early years of PKL. Playing for the team in Seasons 1, 2, and 3, he was a vital part of their Season 3 championship run.With 76 tackle points to his name, Suresh was one of the league's most reliable cover defenders, anchoring the defense and playing a critical role in securing the title for Patna.

5. Neeraj Kumar (Right Cover)

Neeraj Kumar has been a key figure in Patna’s defense since 2019. Over the past four seasons, he has proven his worth, accumulating 174 points.
Neeraj’s solid defensive presence helped the team reach the finals in Season 8. His tenacity and tackling skills make him an essential part of the Pirates' defensive setup.

6. Sachin Tanwar (Left In)

Sachin Tanwar joined the Patna Pirates in Season 8 and quickly became an integral member of the team’s raiding unit. Known for his calm demeanor in do-or-die raids, Sachin played a crucial role in leading the Pirates to the finals in Season 8.
He was the top raider for the Pirates in both Season 8 and Season 9, showcasing his consistency and skill. With a total of 544 points over three seasons, Sachin solidified his position as a key raider for Patna.

7. Mohammadreza Shadlou (Left Corner)

Iranian sensation Mohammadreza Shadlou took the PKL by storm with his debut for Patna in Season 8. As a left-corner defender, he racked up 89 tackle points, earning a spot in the PKL Dream Team that season.

Shadlou’s highlight moment came when he set a PKL record with 16 tackle points in a single match, including eight super tackles against Dabang Delhi KC. He continued his dominant form into Season 9, finishing with 84 tackle points, solidifying his position as one of the league’s top defenders.
