Pro Kabaddi League Season 10: PKL 2023 Auction Date, Rules, Base Price, Salary Purse, Retained Players List

Mumbai, September 8: Mashal Sports, the Pro Kabaddi League organizers, on Friday (September 8) announced the new dates for the PKL Season 10 Player Auction, which was originally scheduled to take place on September 8 and September 9 in Mumbai.

The two-day player auction, which was postponed last week, will now be held a month later on October 9 and 10 at the same location in Mumbai, where over 500 players including Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, will go under the hammer with 12 teams set for bidding wars.

Mashal Sports had earlier scheduled the PKL Season 10 Player Auction on 8-9 September. However, the auction was postponed from that date at the request of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India in view of the ongoing preparations of the Indian kabaddi team for the Asian Games that start later this month.

The PKL league commisioner Anupam Goswami was delighted to announce the new dates for the auction, which is now set to take place after the Hangzhou Asian Games.

"We are delighted to announce that the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Player Auction will now be held immediately after the Asian Games," Goswami was quoted as saying in a release.

"We are certain that there will be very strong fan excitement and interest in a blockbuster Player Auction, where several star performers from the Asian Games will attract competitive bidding from the PKL teams." How many players will go under the hammer in PKL 2023 Auction?

The Season 10 Player Pool will consist of 500+ including the 24 players from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023. The Salary Purse available to each franchise is INR 5 crore.

The PKL teams have already begun building their squads for PKL Season 10 under the League Player Policy for the Season. In August 2023, the PKL teams exercised their option of retaining players from their respective PKL Season 9 squads.

The franchises had the choice of retaining players across three categories - Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP) and Existing New Young Players (ENYP). A total of 84 players were retained with 22 from the ERP category, 24 in the RYP category and 38 in the ENYP category.

The non-retained players, which include star players such as Pawan Sehrawat, Vikash Kandola & Fazel Atrachali, will go under the hammer at the PKL Season 10 Player Auction.

What is the Salary Purse for franchise heading into PKL Season 10 Auction?

The total Salary Purse available to each franchise for its squad has increased from Rs 4.4 Crore to Rs 5 Crore after three seasons. So, each franchise will have a purse of a maximum of INR 5 Crore depending on their retentions.

How are the base price slabs decided for the PKL Player Auction 2023?

The Season 10 Player Auctions will see Domestic, Overseas, and New Young Players (NYPs) divided into four categories: Category A, B, C and D. Within each category, the players will be further sub-divided as 'All-Rounders', 'Defenders' and 'Raiders'.

What is the base price for players at the PKL Season 10 Auction?

Base prices for each of the category in the Pro Kabaddi Season 10 player auction will be as follows:

Category A - INR 30 Lakhs

Category B - INR 20 Lakhs

Category C - INR 13 Lakhs
