Madurai, Oct 23 (UNI) S Kavitha, the Vice-Captain of the Indian Kabaddi team which won the Asian Women Championship in Tehran, the Iranian capital, was given a rousing welcome here yesterday.
On her return from Tehran, she was taken in a procession in a chariot in her home town, Madurai. A bevy of school and college students, District Collector S S Jawahar, police officers, members of the Tamil Nadu State Amateur Kabaddi Association and her relatives gathered at the railway station here to receive the ''pride of Madurai.'' Kavitha was appointed the captain of the team in the 51st State-level Kabaddi Championship at Chekkanoorani, near here, recently. However, after the 54th National Kabaddi Championship held in Andhra Pradesh, she was elevated as the Vice-Captain of the Women Championship team.
UNI
