Katie Cosgriffe Biography

She discovered she had Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a neurological condition that caused numbness and weakness in her hands. This realisation prompted her to explore Para swimming. "I started losing a little bit of feeling in my hands and then also experienced some weakness and numbness," she said.

Coaching and Training

Her training is guided by two coaches: David Tontini at the club level and Mike Thompson at the national level. She currently swims for the Oakville Aquatic Club in Canada. Her coach, David Tontini, has been a significant influence on her career.

Awards and Recognition

In 2023, she was named Breakout Para Swimmer of the Year by Swimming Canada. This accolade highlights her rapid progress and dedication to the sport.
